Anchorage meeting on OCS program to be rescheduled

An open-house format meeting scheduled for Jan. 23 in Anchorage for people to comment to the federal government on the proposed national Outer Continental Shelf drilling program has been postponed and will be rescheduled.

The session was to include employees from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management whose travel was cancelled because of the partial federal government shutdown.

BOEM also has established a virtual meeting room online for those unable to attend the open house meetings, at https://www.boem.gov/National-Program-Virtual-Room/

BOEM spokesman John Callahan, with the BOEM Alaska OCS Region, said he would announce the new open meeting date for Anchorage once it is determined.

National officials for BOEM decided earlier to host one meeting only for each state with coastal waters.
