Obituary: Theodore Butler

August 15, 1944 – August 7, 2018

Theodore Harry Butler, born August 15, 1944, passed over in his home August 7, 2018. He was taken early by cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandy Butler; children, Brian, Blaine and Shawna; grandchildren, Alexis, Kade, Rhiannon and Josie, great-grandchild, Kagan; step grandchildren, Jeremy, Kendell, Rylan, Emily, Kelsie, Nathan, Logan, Lizzie and Holden.

Ted met and married his first wife LaNae Butler, pre-diseased, in California and moved to Cordova in 1966, where, together they raised three children, built a beautiful home at Mile 5, established themselves as commercial fishermen.

Ted began his career with IBEW in Cordova and served IBEW Local 1547 for 45 years.

While in Cordova, Ted created a thriving business commercial fishing, gill netting the Copper River Flats, and Purse Seining in Prince William Sound. He loved deeply having his family aboard and fishing. Loved hunting and teaching his children how to do both.

After retiring from IBEW he continued to create, operated rental properties and created for himself a charter business out of Whittier, Alaska that he owned and operated as captain and charter guide to the age of 71.
