Law & Order: Sept. 7-13

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 9-7-18 thru 9-13-18. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.                        

SEPTEMBER 7, Friday:

11:59 a.m. Dispatch received a letter reporting an individual was driving and almost hit them while walking.  Officer investigated the situation.  12:45 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle had hit a bear on the highway and everyone was fine.  The bear ran off into the trees and has not been seen.

SEPTEMBER 8, Saturday:

1:57 a.m. Officer conducted a traffic stop arresting Bruce Beyer, age 45 of Cordova, for DUI. 10:45 a.m. Caller reported he was threatened by people trespassing on his property. Officer responded investigating the situation. 4:27 p.m. Caller reported a woman behind Bidarki does not look well. Officer responded finding the woman to be okay. 11:16 p.m. A caller reported a fight at a Bunkhouse. Officer responded arresting Darren Disroe, age 48 of South Carolina, for DV Assault and Resisting Arrest.

SEPTEMBER 9, Sunday:

11:35 a.m. Caller reported a vehicle driving and swerving across double yellow lines almost hitting him while biking. Officer responded unable to locate the vehicle.

SEPTEMBER 10, Monday:

8:46 a.m. Caller reported having chest pain and a numb left arm. Ambulance responded transporting the patient to CCMC. 3:30 p.m. Caller reported a man dressed in a costume carrying weapons is heading to First Street. Officers responded speaking to the man and investigated the situation. 4:40 p.m. Caller reported a possible intoxicated man at the harbor bathrooms. Officer responded finding the individual may be having a medical emergency and requested an ambulance. Ambulance responded transporting the patient to CCMC.

SEPTEMBER 11, Tuesday:

10:03 a.m. Caller reported attempting to exit her vehicle but forgot it was in drive and it traveled across the Highway crashing into the Slew. Officers and Rescue One responded stabilizing the vehicle to be towed out. 4:28 p.m. Caller reported her son is being yelled at by a man in a store. Officer responded trespassing the man from the store.

SEPTEMBER 12, Wednesday:

4:24 a.m. Caller reported she had been woken up by someone yelling for help outside their house near the flats on Whitshed. Officer responded finding a man had fallen out of his boat and swam to shore where the Officer transported him to CCMC for medical attention.

SEPTEMBER 13, Thursday:

7:20 a.m. Caller reported a man asleep behind Bidarki in his vehicle and will not leave the property. Officer responded making the man move along. 2:46 a.m. Caller reported two kayaks just left Breakwater heading towards Spike Island but one of them is overturned with no one around it. Kayakers called and reported they both made it to Spike Island safe and sound.  

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:

DMV HOURS:  8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave.  Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, and citations.
