Fungus Festival 2019: from foraging to feasting

Fungus Festival kicks off in Cordova this week. Below is a complete listing of festival events. Unless otherwise noted, all events meet at the Cordova Center. Events that require an extra fee beyond festival registration denoted with an asterisk (*). Thursday, August 29

  • 6-8 p.m. Copper River Canvas Painting Event at Moose Lodge, upstairs.*

Friday, August 30

  • 9-10:30 a.m. Hanging Mushroom Needlefelt Ornament, ages 8 and up at Net Loft. Kid-friendly.*
  • 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Hanging Mushroom Needlefelt Ornament. Ages 8 and up at the Net Loft. Kid-friendly.*
  • 1-3:15 p.m. Mushroom Terrarium. Adults and ages 5-9 with parent at Net Loft.*
  • 1-3 p.m. Bear Bread Painting Class with Jessica at Cordova Center Education Room.*
  • 3:30-5:45 p.m. Mushroom Terrarium. Adults and ages 5-9 with parent at the Net Loft. Kid-friendly.*
  • 5-7 p.m. Wine and Cheese Mixer/Recipe Swap Potluck and Live Auction. Registration not required for this event. Located at Cordova Center, Lower Atrium.
  • 7-8 p.m. Cooking Demo with Chat Hyatt at Cordova Center Community Room A.

Saturday, August 31

  • 9 a.m. Fungus 101 Class, Kate Mohatt will present on Mycoflora Project at Cordova Center Education Room.
  • 10 a.m. Foray with Kate and Melissa. Meet at Cordova Center.
  • 11 a.m. Foray with Ken and Chad. Meet at Cordova Center. Kid-friendly
  • 9-10:30 a.m. Hanging Mushroom Needlefelt Ornament. Ages 8 and up at Net Loft. Kid-friendly.*
  • 1-5:30 p.m. Natural Dyeing with Mushrooms and Plants at The Net Loft with Amber Wasson and Raven Madison.*
  • 2-3 p.m. Kid-led Kids’ Foray, for ages 6-12 at Nirvana Park. Kid-friendly.
  • 6:30 p.m. Wild Harvest Feast at Cordova Center community rooms. Tickets required. Contact Copper River Watershed Project at 907-424-3334.*

Sunday, September 1

  • 10 a.m. Foray with Ken and Melissa. Meet at Cordova Center. Kid-friendly.
  • 11 a.m. Foray with Kate and Chad. Meet at Cordova Center.
  • 12-1:30 p.m. Kids Fungus Funtivities at the Masonic Lodge. Kid-friendly.
  • 1:30-2 p.m. Mushroom Talk with Nikki Newcome at Cordova Center Education Room.
  • 2-3:30 p.m. Cooking Demo with Chad Hyatt at the Masonic Lodge.
  • 3:30-4 p.m. Fungus Festival Table Talk with Kate, Chad and Ken at Cordova Center Upper Atrium.
  • 4-6 p.m. Writing Workshop and Mug-up with Tara Anderson. Meet at the Whale’s Tale Cafe at Orca Lodge.

  • 5:30-9:30 p.m. Autumn Needlework with Mushroom Dyed Wool Felt at Net Loft. Kid-friendly.
