State Museum seeks submissions for Alaska Positive

A call for submissions opens Sept. 3 through Oct. 12 for the 49th annual Alaska Positive exhibition. The Alaska State Museum exhibit heads to Cordova from March through mid-April of 2021.

The Alaska Positive exhibit encourages photography as an art form in Alaska. This year’s guest juror is David Michael Kennedy, whose works are held in museum collections including the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian Institute.

Kennedy began his career in New York with commercial photography including iconic portraits of musicians, actors and artists. In 1986, he moved to New Mexico to focus on fine art photography, and his name is synonymous with New Mexico landscapes.

Information on submissions is online at callforentry.org

Each person may enter up to four photographic works. The entry fee for each is $25.

For more information contact the Alaska State Museum curator of exhibitions at (907) 465-4819 or email jackie.manning@alaska.gov.
