2 charged in theft of ATM from Hydaburg credit union

Two Hydaburg men have been charged with stealing an ATM from a credit union in the southeast Alaska community.

David Natkong-Carle, 31, is charged with burglary, felony theft and criminal mischief, Alaska State Troopers announced. William Carle, 24, is charged with felony theft and criminal mischief.

Both men are represented by the Alaska Public Defender Agency, which did not respond Thursday, Dec. 19 to an email request for comment on the case.

Troopers before business hours on Dec. 12 receive a report that someone had burglarized the Tongass Federal Credit Union branch office in Hydaburg and stolen an ATM. Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000.

An outpouring of tips led to the arrests, troopers said.

Hydaburg is a city of 400 on the southwest coast of Prince of Wales Island.
