PWSRCAC annual meeting set for May 7-8

A teleconference on May 7-8 will be the setting for the annual board meeting of the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council.

Council offices in Anchorage and Valdez are currently closed because of COVID-19.

Visual presentations given during the meeting may be streamed live through the Zoom link or accessed by download on the council’s website, pwsrcac.org/event/board-of-directors-meeting-valdez-5/?instance_id=203.

The tentative schedule for Thursday, May 7 is from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8.

The meeting is open to the public through the video/teleconference system, except for executive sessions.

Business to be conducted includes seating of established directors and committee members and the election of new board officers.

The board will also hear an activity report by Alyeska Pipeline Service Company on the Valdez Marine Terminal and Ship Escort/Response Vessel System operations, an update om the long-term environmental monitoring program, a report om best available technology for tow-line deployment between oil tankers operating in Prince William Sound and rescue boats.

A second, special board meeting is set for May 21 to discuss and approve the council budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
