New outfitter, guide proposals welcomed for Chugach

New outfitter guide proposals for limited activities on the Cordova, Glacier or Seward ranger districts of Chugach National Forest are being accepted from July 1 through Sept. 30 for operations beginning in 2021.

The opportunity is limited to companies not already permitted to operate on the Chugach National Forest.

Proposals must pass an initial and second level screening before acceptance. Those accepted will be processed in the order they are received. Newly accepted applicants will receive two-year priority use permits, with the option to extend for an additional eight years if permit holders receive successful performance evaluations, forest service officials said.

Proposal packages must identify the desired type of authorized service or activity, a map of the proposed use area, an allocation of use in terms of service days, the mode of transportation, a completed SF299 application and operation and safety plan.

Applicants must also provide a copy of their insurance policy covering the proposed activities prior to the start of operations, and a copy of the state of Alaska business license will be required once the proposal is approved.
