Retail promotion begins for fresh Bristol Bay sockeyes

With over 23 million wild sockeye salmon already harvested from Bristol Bay and more coming in daily retailers across the United States are promoting the succulent reds as portions, fillets and whole fish.

Quality Food Centers in the Seattle area has a fresh promotion for the second half of July and will feature a sales contest in place of traditional in-store chef cooking and sampling demonstrations. In eastern Washington, Rosauers Supermarkets is featuring whole Bristol Bay sockeyes, plus fillets and portions.

Raley’s, a family owned chain in Northern California that features healthy offerings, is promoting Bristol Bay salmon with a focus on the fresh season.

Midwest retailer Hy-Vee also is featuring fresh Bristol Bay sockeyes during the fresh season, as is Texas retailer H-E-B.
