Law & Order: July 10-16

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police department between July 10-16. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, July 10
5:12 p.m. Caller reported a woman had been bitten by a dog. An officer responded and cited the owner.

Saturday, July 11
8:40 a.m. Caller reported a small black bear running between houses on Lake Ave. 4:48 p.m. caller reported 4 to 5 people were on her property and refused to leave. An officer responded but the officer was unable to locate anyone on the property.

Sunday, July 12
Nothing to report.

Monday, July 13
2:39 p.m. Caller reported somebody had entered their property and stolen some items. An officer reviewed camera footage and arrested Daniel Jepson, age 36 of Cordova Alaska, for theft and violating his conditions of release. Jepson was cited and released with a court date.

Tuesday, July 14
10:53 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Wednesday, July 15
11:52 p.m. Two Cordova police officers radioed to dispatch that they were going to be checking up on an individual that they had found asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle. The officers found the individual in the front seat to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested Seth Steben, age 48 of Cordova Alaska, for DUI.

Thursday, July 16
3:51 p.m. Caller reported a black SUV was driving erratically heading out the road. The Alaska State Troopers located the vehicle and attempted to contact the driver who took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was ultimately stopped by the Alaska State Troopers and Hunter Schultz, age 26 of Cordova, Alaska, was arrested for failure to stop, reckless driving, DUI, refusal to submit, and violation of conditions of release. 7:45 p.m. Caller reported a red Subaru had crashed at the end of Adams Ave and then fled the scene. Cordova Police Officers responded to the area and arrested Loyd Bedgarde, age 60 of Cordova Alaska, for DUI. 3:51 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance for a medical transport from the hospital to the 13-mile airport. The ambulance responded and provided transport.

DMV hours
From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments are now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
