Obituary: Pepo Pitesa

May 24, 1952 — July 29, 2020

Pepo Pitesa.

Cordovans and many throughout the state lost a good friend and contributor to the community recently. Pepo passed on July 29 at his home in Croatia.

Born in Trogir, Croatia, Pepo made his way to America in the early ’80s and Alaska not long after. A man of many talents and passions, when in Cordova he was a prolific web-man. Speed and efficiency was his hallmark.

He shoveled snow in winter, baked bread, and shared home cooking born of the Mediterranean. A creature of fairness and dignity, he could be seen all year making the rounds between friends’ homes, picking up work to make ends meet, and of course escorting and caring for his two daughters, Karen and Olivia which were his world.

Pepo’s gregarious, worldly wisdom and simple values made him always a welcome, respected individual and dedicated father. He will be missed by many.

He’s survived by a brother in Split, Croatia, and his two daughters Karen and Olivia Pitesa.

Karen Pitesa, Olivia Pitesa; c/o 8746 N. Douglas, Juneau 99801.
