Great Northern Engineering in Palmer has joined the energy and water business sector of Koniag Inc., the Alaska Native regional corporation representing the Kodiak area.
The acquisition was announced on Tuesday, Feb. 23, by Ron Unger, chairman and chief executive officer of Koniag.
The regional firm’s energy and water business sector also includes Dowland-Bach, Glacier Services Inc., and the recently acquired Big G Electric and Engineering.
“GNE has always been committed to creating superior work product with an Alaska team, and now Koniag has given us a strong network of support and national reach to build from our homegrown talent,” said Truk Sederholm, general manager of GNE.
The new Koniag subsidiary has offered civil and structural, electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation engineering consulting services in Alaska since 1982.
