Law & Order: April 9-15

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between April 9-15. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, April 9
12:42 p.m. An officer served court paperwork. 12:56 p.m. An officer served court paperwork. 3:07 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport.

Saturday, April 10
8:11 a.m. A caller reported they were hallucinating. An officer and the ambulance responded. The patient was transported to the hospital. 9:45 a.m. An officer assisted at a hunter’s safety class. 11:54 a.m. A caller reported a motor vehicle accident and the other party refused to give their insurance information. An officer spoke with the other party and they provided their insurance information at the police station. 1:44 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 2:19 p.m. An officer assisted at a hunter’s safety class. 3:19 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 6:11 p.m. The hospital requested an ambulance for a medical transport, the ambulance responded and conducted the transport. 7:20 p.m. An officer served court paperwork. 9:32 p.m. An officer served court paperwork.

Sunday, April 11
5:14 p.m. A caller reported a motor vehicle accident, an officer was notified, and an investigation is ongoing. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Monday, April 12
9 a.m. Bradlee Shapleigh, age 22, of Cordova Alaska checked into jail to serve three days for a DUI conviction. 1:13 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:35 p.m. A caller reported a reckless driver almost caused an accident while attempting to pass in a no passing zone. An officer was notified but was unable to locate the vehicle. 6 p.m. A caller reported a dead mountain goat lying on the side of the highway. Wildlife Troopers were notified and are investigating. 7:43 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 10:08 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 11:49 An officer conducted a security check of the Post Office.

Tuesday, April 13
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 1:08 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 1:38 p.m. The hospital requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the airport, the ambulance responded and conducted the transport. 2:30 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 5:55 p.m. A caller reported a possible intoxicated driver. An officer responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 7:36 p.m. An officer stopped to contact an individual on Chase Avenue. The officer provided transportation for said individual. 8:09 p.m. An officer attempted to apprehend a loose dog, the owner retrieved the dog and was given a warning for a dog off leash in city limits. 8:54 p.m. A caller reported an individual lying on the sidewalk on Lake Avenue, an officer responded and ensured the person was safely taken home. 10 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business.

Wednesday, April 14
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 11:53 a.m. An individual requested to speak with an officer regarding a current investigation. 12:47 p.m. A caller reported of receiving scam calls. 12:59 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 2:34 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 7:30 p.m. A caller reported of water flooding at their parents’ residence. The caller was notified to contact the city shop. 11:11 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of the Post Office.

Thursday, April 15
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 1:13 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 1:19 p.m. A caller reported of receiving spam calls. 2:15 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 6:33 p.m. A caller reported of an assault between two juveniles. An officer was notified and is investigating. 6:43 p.m. A caller reported a smell of fuel in their residence. The fire marshal was notified and responded to the caller’s residence. 10:24 p.m. A caller requested assistance in freeing their stuck vehicle at 25-mile. A person was found to assist the caller.

Open Tuesday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Payments are accepted at DMV for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, and citations. Appointments may now be scheduled online at cdv.tiny.us/dmv.
