Obituary: Lori Roshau

August 1964–May 2021

Lori Ann Roshau passed away in May 2021 with family by her side. Lori was the devoted wife of Allen Roshau for 35 years, a loving mother to Tyler and his wife Megan, and the cherished grandmother of Penelope and Claire. She was a sweet daughter, sister, and aunt who treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana.

Lori was born to Michael and Sandra Hughes in August 1964. She grew up in Auburn but spent many of her childhood years in Cordova before returning to Auburn. Being the oldest of three was a role Lori loved and took seriously. She adored her sisters who were also her best friends from the moment they were born.

Fiercely protective of those in her circle, she would drop anything to help someone, usually very quietly and without fanfare. She loved to care for others and was extremely compassionate, stoic, and selfless.

Lori worked in the health care industry for over 30 years. Her favorite part of her job, aside from the friendships she shared with coworkers, was most definitely working with the patients — it perfectly suited her servant heart.

Lori loved family gatherings, sunny weather, and was always up for an adventure. She and Al were quite the duo. They loved spending time together, whether that was with friends at the many concerts they attended, camping with their gang, or enjoying a quiet sunset on the ocean. Her boys were her sun and moon; she would join Al and Tyler for any activity if it meant being with them.

Whether she was working or playing, Lori rarely sat still. She was a “doer” and liked to keep busy. She loved baking and playing with her granddaughters. She didn’t want to miss a moment and never let her illness stop her. She was the strongest woman we’ve ever met.

She is survived by her husband Allen Roshau, son Tyler Roshau and his wife and their two children. She also leaves behind her mother Sandra Hughes (predeceased by her father Michael Hughes), her sisters/best friends Jodi Rutledge (Reese) and Toni Salazar, plus many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members. All of these she loved and touched deeply. She will forever be in our memories, stories, and hearts.

A celebration of life was held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 25 at Wine & Roses Country Estate in Auburn, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Lori’s name to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
