The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between May 21-June 24. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, May 21

Saturday, May 22
1:24 a.m. An officer responded to CCMC for a follow up. 6:36 a.m. An officer responded to CCMC for a follow-up. 5:59 p.m. An officer requested an ambulance for an individual that they had contacted. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 7:37 p.m. Two officers arrested Jack Jeppson, age 44, of Cordova, Alaska, for a warrant issued for two counts of assault in the 4th degree.

Sunday, May 23
2:55 p.m. An officer responded to the harbor for a follow up. 5:34 p.m. An officer responded to a business for a follow-up. 7:33 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at the harbor. 9:25 p.m. Caller reported a dispute and wanted somebody removed from their home. An officer responded and separated the two parties for the night.

Monday, May 24
1:30 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 6:49 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for a follow-up. 8:07 p.m. An officer did a security check at the harbor. 9 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for a follow up. 11:29 p.m. An officer responded to a business for a security check.

The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 12:26 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 4:20 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 6:21 p.m. Caller requested to have an individual trespassed from their property. An officer responded and notified the individual of the trespass. 7:40 p.m. An officer assisted a group of boaters in retrieving their boat from the water. 11:24 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local bar.

Thursday, May 27
12:43 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 2:29 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check on an individual. An officer responded and spoke to the individual’s parents and determined that they were safe. 2:43 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 9 p.m. An individual came to the station to report a possible domestic violence situation. An officer responded and found no crime had been committed and separated the parties.

Sunday, May 30
1:50 a.m. The USCG detected an emergency locator transmitter from an aircraft. An officer and Alaska State DOT workers responded to the location of the transmitter and found it in a parked aircraft. 1:16 p.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the 13-mile airport. 12:31 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 2:11 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport.

The officer determined that no crime had been committed and separated the parties. 9:34 a.m. Caller reported they were being blackmailed by somebody that was located out of country. An officer reviewed the case and provided council to the victim on how to proceed. 12:29 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for follow up on a previous case. 1:15 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 1:24 p.m. Caller requested a welfare for a neighbor. An officer responded and found everything to be OK. 6:37 p.m. An officer conducted a security check for a local business. 11:07 An officer conducted a security check for a local business.

Thursday, June 3

Friday, June 4
12:17 a.m. Caller reported a noise complaint. An officer responded, contacting the property owner and issued a warning for excessive noise. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 9:22 p.m. An officer contacted two juveniles riding off-highway motorcycles on Copper River Highway. The officer issued a warning and escorted them back to their property. 9:27 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business.

An officer responded and trespassed the individual from the business and provided transport from the property. 9:41 p.m. An officer responded to a local business for follow-up on a current case. 9:50 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 10:06 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 10:45 p.m. Caller reported being assaulted on main St. An officer responded and arrested Brian Ramirez, age 31 of California, for assault in the 4th degree.

An officer responded and arrested Jared Nygaard, age 22, of Montana, for DUI. 3:05 a.m. A second officer responded to the scene of the previous multi-vehicle collision for assistance. 12:40 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 2:42 p.m. Caller reported finding a body at a storage locker. An officer and an ambulance responded finding the victim deceased upon arrival.

Monday, June 7
An officer conducted an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport. 2:41 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Post Office. 12:54 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 1:23 p.m. An officer transported a prisoner to the 13-mile airport for transfer to the Alaska State Troopers. 6:46 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 8:51 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 9:48 p.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the 13-mile airport. 10:04 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check on a residence that may have a fight in progress. Tuesday, June 8
11:23 a.m. Caller reported an individual in a hoodie checking doors on cars and homes. An officer responded to the area and after an extensive search, no suspicious persons were spotted in the area. 2:46 p.m. Caller reported a dog that had been barking all morning. An officer responded to the area and spoke with the dog’s owner. 7:24 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 9:45 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 9:55 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business.

Wednesday, June 9
An officer conducted an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport. 8:30 a.m. Caller reported a bear on Lake Avenue. An officer responded but was unable to locate the bear. 9:43 a.m. An officer presided at the Cordova Courthouse for arraignments. 10:56 a.m. An officer responded to a residence for service of civil papers. 1:15 a.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 6:44 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at the harbor. 7:38 p.m. Caller reported a suspicious vehicle at the Sheridan Glacier trailhead. An officer responded and found everything to be OK. 11:51 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Thursday, June 10
12:33 a.m. Dispatch received an automated fire alarm for an industrial fish cannery. The fire department responded and found the alarm to be false. An officer conducted an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport. 11:39 p.m. Caller reported an individual was stuck in the mud at the mud flats near the new harbor. A fire officer responded but found the individual was safe prior to arrival. 11:41 a.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 5:11 p.m. Dispatcher received a fire alarm for an industrial building on Whitshed Road. The fire department responded and found the alarm to be false.

Friday, June 11
12:51 a.m. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 10:20 a.m. Dispatch received notification of a panic alarm. An officer responded and found the alarm was accidentally set off. 12:39 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 5:17 p.m. An officer received a report of a loose dog. The officer responded to the reported area but was unable to locate the dog. 11:29 p.m. Officer conducted a security check at a local business.

Saturday, June 12
An officer located evidence of a vehicle burnout on the Copper River Highway and patrolled the area in search of reckless drivers. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Sunday, June 13
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 12:52 a.m. Caller reported an intoxicated employee who was being aggressive towards other employees. An officer responded and removed the individual from the premises. 2:06 p.m. Caller reported an unconscious individual lying on the ground. An ambulance was paged but was canceled after an officer arrived and determined the individual was conscious and in charge of their faculties. The officer provided transport for the individual back to their residence. 2:44 a.m. An officer responded to a business to follow up on a case that had occurred earlier in the morning. 12:22 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 7:52 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 9:21 p.m. An officer responded to a residence to check on a defendant on pre-trial conditions. 11:27 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. Monday, June 14

An officer and a fire officer responded, and the patient refused care. 12:42 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 4:08 a.m. Caller reported that a group of kids had been kayaking and were caught in bad weather and are now in the water. Two officers, the fire department and the Forest Service responded to the scene. A local fisherman with his vessel already in the water was able to provide aid and rescue the children from the water. An officer and an ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 7:46 p.m. The Cordova Volunteer Fire Department conducted a training ammonia drill at Trident Seafoods. 7:59 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance and an officer responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday unless otherwise posted. The DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
