The Cordova Chamber of Commerce’s principal purpose and objective is the promotion, development, and encouragement of trade, commerce, economic, civic, and social welfare of the Cordova area.
How does the chamber fulfill its mission?
Our efforts include a variety of programs, events and special projects in the areas of: Economic Development, Destination Marketing, Quality of Life Enhancement and Business Support. The chamber fulfils their mission in each of the areas through:
- Economic Development by being active participants in community projects that support Cordova and as advocates for issues that affect our financial sustainability.
- Destination Marketing has been fulfilled this summer by obtaining a grant that paid for a nationwide ad campaign, new branding, updated marketing materials for all businesses to use, and a 15-year Destination Strategy that spans growth in all of the chamber directives while stimulating Cordova’s local economy.
- Quality of Life Enhancement happens through advocacy on issues such as: keeping the ferry running, mariculture support, creating regenerative tourism, workforce development, strengthened community bonds through special events, and so much more.
- Business Support is provided in one-on-one collaborative sessions, the chamber online business directory, shopping and dining guides, business empowerment workshops and our Shop Cordova First campaign.
What is the chamber focused on now?
Two of our big promotions happening now are membership renewal and Shop Cordova First. The chamber is a membership organization that supports member businesses through several avenues. Being a chamber member comes with business referrals, marketing and exposure, business support and development, advocacy, event sponsorships, and many more benefits that can be found at: www.cordovachamber.com/join-cordova-ak.
Why is Shop Cordova First important?
As we are now into the fourth quarter the chamber is focused on supporting our businesses to end the year with a bang by promoting Shop Cordova First. Shopping Cordova First impacts every one of us either directly or indirectly. Shopping in Cordova helps businesses thrive, employs those we love, allows Cordovans to keep living the life they enjoy, and helps the community give back to each other.
What opportunities are coming up to Shop Cordova First?
Every day is a Shop Cordova First opportunity! Also Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Saturday Markets, Moonlight Madness, and the Holiday Bazaar are all upcoming ways to Shop Cordova First. Don’t forget to ask our local businesses about adding to their orders since we know that there are extended shipping delays this year and our local businesses may be able to help you while you support them!
