The 2022 Blessing of the Fleet in Cordova from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, welcomes people of all faiths and denominations, and will be broadcast over Channel 15.
The event is a collaborative effort of local clergy, Cordova District Fishermen United and the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Fir.
The beginning of the ceremony will be a short song and prayer.
All vessels who are participating in the event are to stage up in the open water past the canneries and slowly pass by the cutter to be blessed. The last vessel to pass by the cutter will be passed a wreath that those aboard the vessel should lay out on the open water in honor of the fallen fishermen.
