Salmonfest 2022 announces evening including Shakey Graves, Kyle Hollingsworth and Umphrey’s McGee

Organizers of Salmonfest, the iconic annual festival of fish, love and music on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, have announced nationally known evening headliners for 2022, ranging from the blues folk and rock-n-roll of Shakey Graves to Kyle Hollingsworth’s classical ragtime and bebop.

The festivities, all in the name of protecting healthy habitat for Alaska’s celebrated wild salmon, are set for Aug. 5-7 this year at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik.

The headliners include Shakey Graves and Rising Appalachia on Aug. 5, Umphrey’s McGee and the California Honeydrops on Aug. 6, and Umphrey’s McGee and Kyle Hollingsworth on Aug. 7. The complete lineup for all three days is to be announced soon. Additional national acts among several dozen bands at five stages providing nonstop music every day will include Rising Appalachia, Steve Poltz, Digging Dirt and Moonalice.

The family-oriented festival offers an array of booths selling food, beverages, clothing and art works, plus a small fry activity center and camping spots, which should be reserved in advance by ticket holders. Other camping options are also available near the fairgrounds. Vans will be circulating during the festival to several campgrounds in the area to offer free shuttle service for those wearing a Salmonfest wristband provided for ticket holders.

Guns, glass containers, pets, outside alcohol and illegal drugs are not permitted anywhere on the festival site.

Tickets are available for purchase in advance at salmonfestalaska.org. Children under 12 are admitted free and senior tickets are available for those over the age of 65. Adult tickets apply to everyone ages 18-64.
