Updates from the Cordova Police Department, March 6 through March 12

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 03-06-2023 through 03-12-2023. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MARCH 6, MONDAY:

  • At 12:18 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.
  • At 1:05 a.m. a caller reported that her dog had run off.
  • At 1:53 a.m. a caller reported that their dog had come home.
  • At 7:47 a.m. a caller reported seeing electrical wires under a dock that may catch fire. The Harbor Master, fire department and CEC were notified and responded to the scene. No further action was needed.
  • At 5:44 p.m. an automated fire alarm went off at a local cannery. The responsible party was notified. No further action was needed.

MARCH 7, TUESDAY:

  • At 12:43 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.
  • At 11:06 a.m. a caller reported suspicious activity at an apartment unit.
  • At 9:46 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop. A citation was issued for no proof of insurance.
  • At 10:20 p.m. an officer conducted a security check at a local bar.
  • At 10:24 p.m. an officer conducted a security check at a local bar.

MARCH 8, WEDNESDAY:

  • At 1:25 a.m. an officer found a loose dog and returned it to its residence.
  • At 1:41 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.
  • At 9:30 a.m. a Trooper reported a moose and its calf were separated by a fence, DOT was assisting in reuniting the mother and calf.
  • At 11:10 a.m. a caller reported a loose dog at the elementary school playground. 

MARCH 9, THURSDAY:

  • At 2:27 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.
  • At 11:10 p.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.

MARCH 10, FRIDAY:

  • At 12:15 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the ferry terminal.
  • At 6:25 a.m. a caller reported that they had just hit an otter on Orca Road. The appropriate authorities were called.

MARCH 11, SATURDAY:

  • At 12:11 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.
  • At 9:57 a.m. a caller inquired if they were allowed to take moose bones off the side of the road. They were instructed to contact Fish & Game or the State Troopers.
  • At 1:59 p.m. a caller requested to speak to the chief of police regarding a person trespassing on their property.
  • At 3:09 p.m. a caller reported that someone had gone through his vehicle and some items were missing. He came to the station and picked up a Citizen Report Form to fill out. A Call for Service report was started.
  • At 7:41 p.m. a caller reported the neighbors dogs barking. The caller would like help in finding a solution to the problem.

MARCH 12, SUNDAY:

  • At 1:44 a.m. an officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport.
  • At 4:00 a.m. a caller reported a disturbance involving one of her neighbors. An officer responded and took a report.
  • At 7:59 a.m. a medical alert was received that an individual had fallen and was unable to back get up. An ambulance and rescue unit were dispatched and assisted the individual.
  • At 7:18 p.m. a medical alert was received that an individual had fallen and was unable to back up. An ambulance and rescue unit were dispatched and assisted the individual.
  • At 9:24 p.m. a caller reported that they had almost been hit by a car. It was determined that they were in Paradise CA and were trying to call Ranchero Cordova, CA.

DMV HOURS:  Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, citations.
