Public comment is being accepted through June 29 on the Prince William Sound Economic Development District’s regional economic development strategy document for the Prince William Sound region.

PWSEDD is designated by the U.S. Economic Development Administration as a regional development organization, whose primary function is producing and implementing a comprehensive economic development strategy for the region.

Whittier Mayor Dan Blair, who serves as vice president of the PWSEDD, said the agency would like to receive comments from people throughout the Prince William Sound region.

“Economic development is a participatory process,” he said. “We look forward to hearing ideas and suggestions from the region’s residents, businesses and leaders.”

“PWSEDD has been focused on transportation issues, primarily seeking ways to maintain ferry service in our region,” Blair said.

He noted that PWSEDD has successfully advocated for an update to the area transportation plan, an effort that will get underway in early 2020.
