ComFish Alaska, the state’s biggest commercial fisheries meeting, will be back in person again at the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center on March 24-26, complete with fisheries forums and trade show.

ComFish, sponsored by the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, brings together people interested in every aspect of commercial fishing, from innovations in equipment and technology to communications with government agencies and nonprofits affiliated with commercial fisheries.

Forums in previous years have included updates from Alaska legislators and the state’s congressional delegation, as well as the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, as well as updates on federal legislation reauthorization in progress, including the Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act.

Other forums focus on specific fisheries, including the Bristol Bay salmon fishery, groundfish and crab,

and issues related to fisheries safety and the incidental catch on non-targeted species in these fisheries. The forums offer time always for a question-and-answer period following presentations, often with a lively exchange between speakers and participants in the forum.

The Kodiak Chamber of Commerce is also seeking sponsors for ComFish 2022. Those interested should contact Jena Lowmaster, executive director of the chamber, at jena@kodiakchamber.org for further information.
