A winter 2016/2017 schedule for the Alaska Marine Highway System is expected to be available for booking at the earliest the week of Aug. 22, a spokesman for AMHS said Aug. 9.
A public comment period regarding the upcoming winter schedule was held from May 19 through June 22.
An AMHS staff report on the winter schedule is on the agenda for the Marine Transportation Advisory Board meeting in Anchorage Aug. 19, along with a period of public comments that will precede staff reports on a variety of issues, ranging from vessel layups to the fiscal year 2018 budget and scheduling forecast.
The meeting is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room of the Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage, and the public is welcome to attend in person or via teleconference.

AMHS always welcomes comments from the public regarding ferry service and will consider comments made outside of a specific comment period when creating future ferry schedules, said Jeremy Woodrow, a state DOT spokesperson.
