Christmas Bird Count

The 46th annual Christmas Bird Count will take place on Saturday, Dec. 16. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Cordova Center’s education room by the library to get a route assignment. There will be a potluck that evening. Beginner birders are welcome! For more information, call Milo Burcham at 907-429-GOAT.

Breakfast with Santa

The Cordova Coast Guard Spouses Association invites you to enjoy a warm breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Mt. Eccles Elementary School. Kids of all ages are welcome to get a free photo with Santa. Breakfast tickets can be purchased in advance from Ashley Sloan (814) 599-9545 or Jennifer Christensen (254) 681-1533. Cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children and $40 for a family of four. All proceeds go to CCGSA’s senior scholarship fund.

Fishermen’s Holiday Party

The community is invited to join your fellow fishermen, friends, and family for a holiday open house from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at the Labor Hall on main street. All are welcome. Come enjoy good food, music, and libations. Potluck dishes are appreciated but not required. Questions, call CDFU at 907-424-3447.

Peru Fisheries Project

Join presenter Kinsey Justa for the Prince William Sound Science Center’s weekly lecture series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at the U.S. Forest Service building. Justa will be presenting on a recent Peru Fisheries Project, which includes growing resilient sheries through intercultural exchange and applying marketing strategies learned in Alaska for the growth and development in a globalized world. Lectures are free and open to the public.

Rally the Regions Hardwood Classic

Rally Alaska presents the 3rd annual Rally the Regions Hardwood Classic Dec. 27-30 at Dimond High School in Anchorage. High School Basketball teams to participate are Girls: Bristol Bay, Chugiak JV, Cordova, Craig, Lumen Christi, Unalakleet, Unalaska and West JV. Boys: Bristol Bay, Cordova, Craig, Haines, Hooper Bay, Lumen Christi, Unalakleet and Unalaska. Food pantry services

The Little Chapel is administering Salvation Army extension food pantry services. People needing assistance can pick up food on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel. In an emergency at other times, call the Little Chapel at 907-424-3629. Native Village of Eyak administers food distribution on behalf of the Food Bank of Alaska.
