Letter to the Editor: Keep choice in hands of voters

The Alaskan Republican party is trying to keep three Alaska legislature representatives off the primary ballot because they voted for their constituents instead of the party line.

The voters of Cordova and Kodiak chose Louise Stutes as their representative. If our legislators are not free to vote their electors’ wishes, why have a legislature at all?

If we let the Alaska Republican party get away with banning Stutes, LeDoux and Seaton from the primary ballot for the sin of voting off the party line, we might as well have Tuckerman Babcock sitting on his throne making all the decisions.

Whether or not you want to vote for Louise Stutes, I encourage you to call/write the board of elections elections@alaska.gov or 907-465-4611 and keep the choice in the hands of Cordova voters.
