Subsistence Resource Commission meets March 20-21

Subsistence hunting and fishing will be up or discussion March 20-21 when the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Subsistence Resource Commission meets at the park’s visitor center at Copper Center.

The commission said the session will offer an opportunity to develop proposals to change federal subsistence fisheries regulations and for discussion of in-season management of the federal subsistence fishery in the Chitina Subdistrict of the Upper Copper River.

The meeting is open to the public. Written comments may be submitted through the park subsistence coordinator by March 16 for presentation at the meeting.

The meetings will begin at 9 a.m. each day, recessing on the first day at 5 p.m. and on the second day after business is completed. If all work is completed on March 20, no meeting will be held on the second day.

For additional information, including a draft agenda, contact Barbara Cellarius, subsistence coordinator for Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, at 1-907-822-7236, or email barbara_cellarius@nps.gov.
