CCMC Authority Board — Linnea Ronnegard

Linnea Ronnegard

Editor’s note: Cordova’s regular election is set for March 6, in the Cordova Center. Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Community Room A. The Cordova Community Medical Center Authority Board has two open seats for three-year terms. Candidates include Amanda Wiese, Dan Reum and Linnea Ronnegard. The Cordova Times gave the same questions to all the candidates. These are their answers.

  1. How long have you resided in Cordova?

    • I lived in Cordova from 1986 to 1999. Both my children attended the Cordova Schools and Graduated High School here. I moved back to Cordova in February of 2015. I am currently in the process of transitioning from the office manager at Eagle Contracting to the finance director of the Science Center.

  1. Why do you consider yourself to be the best candidate for the job?

    • With my thirty plus years in accounting and bookkeeping, I can provide assistance with budgets and financial statement review.

  1. What would be your top priority as a hospital authority board member?

    • With my thirty plus years in accounting and bookkeeping, I can provide assistance with budgets and financial statement review.

  1. How would you engage the community to combat substance abuse?

    • Due to substance abuse being the national epidemic it is, I do not believe communities are disengaged; education and understanding is what is needed. Education at the school level, from Kindergarten to Senior High; as well as, outreach programs for adults, both for the drug dependent and the drug free. Additionally, visible police involvement is imperative; from being seen walking the streets to being involved in the education and outreach programs.
  2. What steps need to be taken to balance the Cordova Community Medical Center’s budget?

    • Revenue and collecting your receivables is the cornerstone to any budget; proper and timely medical billing is the first (and primary) step to a medical facilities budget.
  3. What would you do to make Cordova safer?

    • More active and visible police involvement.
