The Eyak Corporation has increased the validity of their land use permits from 90 days to one year.

More than 90,000 acres of land in the Cordova area is owned by The Eyak Corp., formed in 1973. It is one of five Native village corporations located within the Chugach region.

“We encourage you to enjoy the outdoors with your friends and family,” said Angela Butler, general manager of Cordova operations at The Eyak Corp. “If you do choose to recreate on Eyak Corporation land, we ask that you please fill out a land use permit.”

The land use permit is currently valid for one year on all Eyak Corp. lands, with the exception of camping permits required for recreational sites at Cabin Lake, Hartney Bay and Jeppson Pond. A campground permit costs $10 per night.

“The land use permit is simply a courtesy; it is asking permission to use The Eyak Corporation’s land,” Butler said.

Permits can be picked up at The Eyak Corp., 901 Lefever St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or found online at www.eyakcorporation.com.
