Obituary: Koniag board member M. Brent Parsons passes

M. Brent Parsons, who served on the Koniag Inc., board of directors for the last 13 years, passed away in early November, while on a strategic planning retreat for the board in Grand Rapids, MI.

Parsons would often say that serving his people on the Koniag board was the highlight of his professional career, the regional Alaska Native corporation said in announcing his passing.

“The best part of being a Koniag board member is meeting and listening to shareholders and their families, visiting villages and learning about our shared history and culture,” Persons said, while running for re-election last year.

A certified public accountant, who earned a degree in business administration from University of Washington, Parsons had over 30 years of varied business experience, including a 25-year career in public accounting. He was a partner in Revilalization Partners, an international specialty management services firm based in Seattle that provides hands-on interim executive management and advisory services to client companies, including American Seafoods Group in Seattle. He was also an active member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Parsons is survived by his wife Past, their children Alicia (Thomas), Matthew (Tovah) and Shelby; his new granddaughter Ruth, daughter of Alicia and Thomas, and his two brothers, Stephen and Lei.
