Letter to the Editor: Hospital auxiliary seeks new volunteers

The Hospital Auxiliary is an informal, relaxed group of dynamic individuals that currently focuses on a mission of providing the extra little things for the long-term care residents. We have been behind the scenes for many years and pop up every once in a while.

Some of our activities in the past have been organizing blood drives, Italian dinners, rummage sales, book sales and king and red salmon raffles. We recently held a rummage sale with the proceeds going toward purchase of a vehicle for the nursing home. Over these many years, our proceeds have purchased eye equipment and the mammogram machine for the hospital, window shades, couches and replacement of roofing material on the green house. We provide Christmas and birthday presents for all the long-term care and swing bed residents.

For many years the Auxiliary helped manage the gardens at the hospital and still participate in gardening efforts around the facility.

We will host a book sale and our annual king and red salmon raffle this spring. The salmon raffle is in its fourth year. If the salmon is won by someone outside the community, the Auxiliary pays for the shipping. We are very grateful to everyone that has donated and/or bought books and bought or sold the raffle tickets.

We are always looking for new people, no experience needed, just a willingness to help us continue our mission.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Hospital Auxiliary please contact any Auxiliary member: Joy Rawlins (president), Elaine Zeine (secretary), Sharon Ermold (treasurer), Vicki Blackler, Vivian Knop, Kari Collins, Ann Schultz, Gerri Koechling, Karen Sundby, Heidi Voss or Nicole Piche, or send us a note on our Facebook page, Cordova Hospital Auxiliary.
