Police have asked residents not to enter the site of a recently demolished hotel. Residents who disregard the barricades around the Cordova Hotel and Bar site may be arrested, Cordova Police Department announced in a Friday, Dec. 6 Facebook post.

Following a report of people rummaging around the pile, police stepped up patrols around the site.

“The way it’s been demolished, there’s big holes where, if someone steps in the wrong place, they’re going to end up in the basement,” said Police and Fire Chief Mike Hicks. “We’re keeping our eye out to make sure nobody’s in there.”

Nails, glass and other building debris would also pose a hazard to members of the public entering the site, Hicks said.

The Cordova Hotel and Bar was demolished during Dec. 3-4.
