The annual Ed Zeine Silver Salmon Derby for ages 2 to 15 will take place from 9 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the boat haul-out lot past the ferry terminal. All salmon weigh-ins end at 4 p.m. Any questions or to volunteer, contact Vivian Knop at 907-424-3128 or 907-424-8272.
Deadline for submissions for Cordova’s literary and arts quarterly “The Catch” are due Sept. 15. The Fall 2021 theme is “Harvest”. Submissions may include poetry, short fiction, essays, memoirs, recipes, crafts, comic strips, photography, and art. All ages and all mediums are welcome. No entry limit. The annual torchlight parade and firework show will begin 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Mt. Eyak Ski Area, weather permitting. Come ring in the New Year with Cordova’s family-friendly celebration.
