Law & Order: Dec. 4-17

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between Dec. 4-17. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Friday, Dec. 4
2:52 a.m. Caller reported being in pain but did not want an ambulance. An officer responded to the residence for a welfare check. 9:00 a.m. An individual came to the station to speak with an officer about a current case. 12:32 a.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 5:37 p.m. Dispatch received a glass break alarm for a local bank. An officer responded and determined it was a faulty alarm. 8:16 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check. An officer responded and determined everything was OK. 9:11 p.m. Caller reported a possible domestic dispute at their neighbor’s house. An officer responded and arrested Killian Long, age 26, of Cordova, Alaska, for assault in the 4th degree, criminal mischief in the 5th degree, and violating conditions of release.

Saturday, Dec. 5
10:21 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 9:15 p.m. Caller reported a noise disturbance. An officer responded and spoke with the suspect and asked them to turn the noise down. 10:02 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check. An officer responded and determined that everything was OK.

Sunday, Dec. 6
5:11pm An officer went to a residence for follow up on a current case.

Monday, Dec. 7
12:40 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 2:09 p.m. Caller requested an individual be trespassed from their property. An officer responded and trespassed the individual. 3:07 p.m. Caller requested an individual be trespassed from their property. An officer responded and trespassed the individual. 6:28 p.m. An officer responded to speak to two people involved in a civil dispute. 8:26 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance and an officer responded and rendered aid. An officer completed an after-hours security check for the 13-mile airport.

Tuesday, Dec. 8
12:20 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 6:57 p.m. Caller reported hitting a dog. An officer responded to the scene.

Wednesday, Dec. 9
An officer completed an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 9:58 a.m. Caller requested a welfare check on an individual. An officer responded and determined they were OK. 12:37 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 12:43 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle had slid off the road into a ditch. An officer responded and found the vehicle had already been removed. 12:48 p.m. An officer responded to an animal complaint. The officer spoke with all parties involved. 3:45 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 5:57 p.m. Caller stated they were letting out their dog and a neighbor pointed possible firearm at the complaint. Two officers responded and spoke to all parties involved and determined that it was just a verbal dispute and no firearm was present. 9:49 p.m. An officer nearly struck a dog walking in the road on 8th St. The animal was taken into the dog pound and then returned to its owner the next day after the owner registered the dog and paid impound fees. An officer completed an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport.

Thursday, Dec. 10
1:09 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 3:56 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual. An officer was unable to locate the person. An officer completed an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport.

Friday, Dec. 11
An officer completed an after-hours security check for the 13-mile airport. 12:16 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 4:39 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 10:39 p.m. An officer conducted a welfare check on an individual near the burn pile. 10:45 p.m. An officer conducted a bar check.

Saturday, Dec. 12
12:18 a.m. A caller reported a possible impaired driver in the hospital’s parking lot, an officer responded and found the individual was not impaired. 8:44 a.m. A caller requested an individual be trespassed from their property, the individual was contacted and notified of the trespass. 10:43 a.m. A caller requested assistance for an individual that had fallen, EMS and CVFD Rescue responded and provided assistance. 4:38 p.m. A caller requested an officer to help him at his residence. An officer responded and assisted the caller. An officer completed an after-hours security check for the 13-mile airport.

Sunday, Dec. 13
12:03 a.m. An officer conducted a bar check. 1:15 a.m. A caller reported having trouble breathing, an officer and the ambulance responded and aided the caller. 2:57 a.m. An officer provided transportation for an individual. 5:48 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual, an officer responded and found the individual to be OK. 7:43 p.m. An officer picked up a loose dog and impounded it. 8:53 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual, an officer responded and checked on the individual. 9:32 p.m. An officer conducted a bar check. 11:49 a.m. An individual stopped at the station to speak with an officer.

Monday, Dec. 14
An officer completed an after-hours security check for the 13-mile airport. 6:00 a.m. A caller requested an officer, an officer responded found the caller had a serious medical condition. EMS was requested, the caller was taken into custody for their own safety and transported to the hospital. 11:17 a.m. An officer returned to a scene for follow up on an active case. 3:44 p.m. CCMC requested transport for a patient, the Ambulance responded and transported patient to the airport. 7:00 p.m. An officer conducted a security check on a residence.

Tuesday, Dec. 15
4:20 p.m. An officer arrested James Jones, age 23, of Cordova Alaska, at the station on an out-of-state governor’s warrant. 6:22 p.m. A caller reported an individual was trying enter his house, an officer responded and contacted the individual. 8:52 p.m. An individual stopped at the station to get his dog released from the pound, an officer released the dog to the owner. 10:30 p.m. An individual came to the station to speak with an officer, an officer contacted him in the lobby. 11:50 p.m. An officer conducted a bar check.

Wednesday, Dec. 16
An officer completed an after-hours security check for the 13-mile airport. 10:22 a.m. A caller reported a breaking and entering. An officer responded and started an investigation. 5:54 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 10:07 p.m. An officer contacted a group of people on Whitshed Road.

Thursday, Dec. 17
An officer completed an after-hours security check for the 13-mile airport. 1:10 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 1:13 p.m. A caller reported loud dogs on Second Street. An officer responded and located the dogs, but the owner was not a home. 3:59 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport.

DMV Hours

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday unless otherwise posted. Closed for lunch 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Credit Card payments accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations at DMV.
