1 new virus case; active case count falls to 8

Cordova reported one new resident case of the novel coronavirus Tuesday, March 9.

Of the 120 local cases identified so far, eight are believed to be currently active. Of these cases, 103 have been Cordova residents and 17 have been non-residents. Three cases have required hospitalization, according to data published by Ilanka Community Health Center. One Cordova resident who tested positive for the novel coronavirus died Nov. 18.

As of Monday, March 8, 721 people in Cordova have received the first of two coronavirus vaccine shots, and 567 have received both shots, according to data published by the city. A vaccination clinic, which will serve around 250-300 people, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10. Coronavirus testing is available at ICHC, Mondays and Fridays from 2-3 p.m.; and at Cordova Community Medical Center, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-9:30 a.m. There will be no drive-up or walk-through virus testing available March 10, the city announced.
