I enjoyed reading about many of your local Earth Day activities, especially the march to the Fisherman’s Memorial and the call to conserve by using less energy and growing a garden.
All sensible people want to enjoy clean air, land and water and we like to think that future generations will live in an even better environment than we do. These were the original objectives of Earth Day and I am happy to have presented at the event in the early 1990s before climate activists took center stage on Earth Day in recent years.
The hypothesis that humanity’s carbon dioxide emissions are causing dangerous climate change problems is being increasingly called into question. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why Earth Day Network organizers dropped the climate change focus for this year’s event (they focused on plastic in the environment instead).
Let’s hope other environmentalists follow the examples set by Cordovans and distance themselves from the ideologically-driven climate scare, focusing instead on issues we know to be real, immediate, and things we can truly affect.
Sincerely,
