This Saturday, May 25, Cordovans gathered at the Cordova Center to make our community a little cleaner and healthier. These citizen volunteers picked up bags of litter from the public areas enjoyed by all Cordovans including downtown, the harbor, sidewalks, roadways, parks and neighborhoods. They returned to thanks, warm food, and fun from another group of helpers working the grills and handing out door prizes. All in all, over 150 volunteers and 43 local businesses and organizations contributed to the event!
Participants gathered dozens of bags full of litter with big smiles; and left with the satisfaction of a job well done and the reminder of how important it is to prevent litter and keep our home beautiful. Our hope is that continuing to have successful cleanup events will not only help remove litter from the area but will also educate our friends and neighbors about the importance of proper waste management. Cordova Chamber of Commerce is proud to facilitate this event, but it is only with the fantastic volunteer and sponsor support like we saw this year that it remains successful and impactful!
Caring for Cordova truly is a community effort, and with partners like we have, we’re able to accomplish great things.
