Business Spotlight is an ongoing series of local business profiles contributed by the Cordova Chamber of Commerce. This Business Spotlight features a Q&A with Natasha Casciano, owner of outdoor sports store Cordova Gear.

How has the business changed over the years?

You may remember the tiny apparel and gear space called the Warmer Corner that gradually expanded inside Orca Book. Kelley and Susan graciously agreed to try out an idea of a store within a store and for many years the Warmer Corner slowly grew inside Orca Book. There was a need for quality clothing and gear in Cordova and the Warmer Corner began as a way to fill that need. After expanding to take over space previously used by the Killer Whale Coffee Shop, the Warmer Corner needed to expand again to have space for our newest addition, footwear. Cordova Gear was born in 2011! Just up the street from Orca Book at 104 W. Davis, we bought and renovated the basement of a house and created the new space to house Cordova Gear. Sadly, the well known and much loved Orca Book closed and the Warmer Corner was absorbed by Cordova Gear.

What are some new items or offerings you’re excited about?

Cordova Gear has grown and added bicycles, bike rentals, and bike repair to our wide selection of footwear, clothing, gear, and gifts. You are also able to shop our online store 24/7 at www.cordovagear.com.
