Self-employed workers may apply for unemployment assistance

State labor officials have begun accepting applications for pandemic unemployment assistance from self-employed workers and others not working due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, and others who have exhausted their regular unemployment insurance benefits.

Bill eases way for veterans to get state jobs

Efforts to ease the transitioning from military service back into civilian life got a boost in House Bill 71, which allows veterans to use relevant military experience to meet basic requirements. The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Andi Story, D-Juneau, applies to veterans, former prisoners of war and members of the National Guard.
