Law & Order: Jan. 1-7

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between Jan. 1-7. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Friday, Jan. 1
12:29 a.m. An officer contacted a group of people at the end of Whitshed Road. 10:42 a.m. A caller reported being harassed by an individual, an officer spoke with the caller and is investigating the incident. 11:52 a.m. A caller requested an ambulance for an individual having seizures, an officer and the ambulance responded and assisted the patient. 5:54 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual, an officer responded and found everything to be okay. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Saturday, Jan. 2
9:27 a.m. A caller reported a person with COVID-19 was seen in town with another individual. This complaint was forwarded to the medical response team. 9:31 a.m. A caller reported their vehicle was vandalized overnight; an investigation has been started. 11:02 An officer reported seeing a small oil spill on Center Drive. A Cordova Fire officer responded and cleaned the spill. 2:38 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 6:57 p.m. An officer conducted a bar check. 7:55 p.m. Officers met with an individual for follow up on an ongoing investigation.

Sunday, Jan. 3
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 10:03 p.m. The hospital requested EMS to assist with a patient, an officer and the ambulance responded and assisted the hospital staff.

Monday, Jan. 4
2:02 a.m. The hospital requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the 13-mile airport, the ambulance responded and conducted the transport. 7 a.m. A caller reported people were staying in their house without permission, an officer was notified, and an investigation is ongoing. 12:11 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 6:18 p.m. A caller requested to speak with an officer regarding an ongoing investigation. The caller was transferred to an officer. 10:11 p.m. An officer assisted a motorist on Lake Avenue.

Tuesday, Jan. 5
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 12:36 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 7:26 p.m. A caller reported her dogs were missing. An officer located one of the dogs and returned it to the owner. 9:17 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity in the AML container yard, an officer responded and found no one suspicious.

Wednesday, Jan. 6
10:43 a.m. A caller requested sand on Browning Avenue. The city shop was notified of the request. 12:34 p.m. An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 1:44 p.m. An officer attended hearings at the courthouse. 8:10 p.m. An officer contacted an individual at the city airport. 8:44 p.m. An officer contacted an individual walking down Whitshed Road. The individual did not need assistance. 8:52 p.m. An officer contacted an individual for follow up on an ongoing investigation. 10:25 An officer conducted a bar check. 11:24 p.m. A caller requested an ambulance to assist their friend, an officer and the ambulance responded, and the patient was transported to CCMC.

Thursday, Jan. 7
3:26 a.m. An officer was flagged down on Railroad Avenue. The officer assisted the individual. 11:24 a.m. An officer stopped at the courthouse on official business. 2:04 p.m. A caller reported an explosion on a vessel in the harbor. An officer, the Fire department, and EMS responded. One patient was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. A fire officer determined the explosion was caused by gasoline fumes. 2:24 p.m. A caller reported possible prior harassment, the caller was directed to fill out a citizen report form. 3:35 An officer provided security for the 13-mile airport. 4:55 p.m. A caller reported being verbally abused. An officer responded and spoke with all involved parties. 8:58 p.m. A caller reported his neighbors’ roof was blowing off in the storm. An officer and the Fire department responded and assisted in securing the roof. 10:03 p.m. A caller requested lift assistance for their friend, an officer responded and provided assistance. 10:30 p.m. An officer arrested Timothy Miller, age 59, of Cordova, Alaska, on a bench warrant for failing to appear for trial call. Miller posted bail and was released.

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday unless otherwise posted. Closed for lunch 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Credit Card payments accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations at DMV.
