Vivian Knop has been volunteering in our community for many years and in many different facets.
Many of you know that she works at CCMC, but you may not know the amount of extra time and energy she put in, especially this year. She has been a part of the Hospital Auxiliary book sale, Christmas presents for the long-term care residents, and this year she started a new tradition of an ornament auction. Because of COVID, the long-term care residents were not allowed visitors and Vivian came up with the idea of a winter wonderland. The community was encouraged to come and build a snowman and wave to the residents.
If you have ever visited our local Moose Lodge, Vivian can always be found trying to sell tickets for one fundraiser or another for the lodge and for the youth. She is also involved with the annual breakfast with Santa and working on Iceworm parade floats.
Cordova kids have enjoyed the annual kids silver fishing derby, and because of her love of fishing and dear friend Ed Zeine, she has been organizing the derby for the last few years. She told me that she loves to see the kids get out with their friends and family, especially to fish.
I have been fortunate enough the last couple of years, to head out to Sheridan glacier with Vivian. She always seems to find the good ice on her adventures with Pooh. She enjoys sharing her love of the ice with locals and visitors alike.
