S. Lane Tucker is named U.S. Attorney for Alaska

U.S. District Chief Judge Sharon L. Gleason has announced the appointment of S. Lane Tucker as U.S. Attorney for the District of Alaska.

Governor sues for federal recognition of state-owned lands

State officials have filed a lawsuit against the federal government, asking judges to recognize the state’s ownership of submerged lands within Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, lands that the state says are not yet fully recognized by the federal government.

Alaska SeaLife Center certified as sensory inclusive

Alaska SeaLife Center has partnered with KutureCity to be the first sensory inclusive certified organization in the state, to assure those with a range of sensory sensitivities a comfortable experience at the Seward facility.

Cordova issues latest update on drinking water quality

A new city annual water quality report, as required by the Safe Drinking Water Act, assures residents that drinking water may be reasonably expected to contain at least small amounts of contaminants but that does not mean the water poses a health risk.

M/V Kennicott set to depart Ketchikan on April 28

State transportation officials this week announced a further delay of the M/V Kennicott coming out of the shipyard due to additional repairs, inspections and certification requirements, saying the ferry would depart northbound from Ketchikan on Thursday, April 28.
