Costume 5K draws 71 runners, up from 2018

Seventy-one people participated in an Oct. 26 5K run through Cordova, many wearing Halloween costumes or other whimsical outfits. The event was organized through Cordova Family Resource Center’s Girls on the Run program, which focuses on physical and emotional self-development for girls in grades three through six.

CCMC says Tribal management could boost revenue

“If you look at any hospital in Alaska in these small communities, we’re operating at about the same budget and with the same deficits,” said Greg Meyer, chair of the CCMC Board of Directors. “It’s just the way the state has hampered these facilities… I thought it was a lot more complicated when I got on, but it seems to be simply that.”

Four cruise ships visits have been planned to Cordova next year. These four visits may be supplemented by two additional visits by Le Soléal, the 264-passenger liner that unexpectedly dropped in on Cordova in August.

Fire department appeals to young would-be firefighters
