CRWP hopes to recycle more fish nets this spring

More snow is in the forecast for Cordova this week, but that’s not stopping the Copper River Watershed Project from looking forward to spring and the odds of shipping out a container load of old commercial gillnets for recycling in Portugal. They would be made into raw plastic for new products.

Coast Guard hoists injured fisherman northeast of Dutch Harbor

A commercial fisherman who suffered a severe leg injury was hoisted aboard a Coast Guard helicopter on Wednesday, Dec. 30, about 80 miles northeast of Dutch Harbor in the Bering Sea, and later flown to Cold Bay for a Guardian flight to Anchorage for a higher level of care.
